The transformation of the hexagonal metastable hydrates (CAH10 or C2AH8)
to the stable, cubic hydrate (C3AH6). The cubic hydrate occupies less volume than the hexagonal hydrates,and this results in an increase in matrix porosity and a possible reduction in concrete strength
