Al2O3, the oxide of aluminum; melting point 3720 °F (2050 °C); in combination with H2O (water), alumina forms the minerals diaspore, bauxite, and gibbsite; in combination with SiO2 and H2O, alumina forms kaolinite and other clay minerals.
